SaaS Technical Assessments

The Need

For software companies considering investing, acquiring or developing SaaS applications, an independent judgment on the technical validity of an application can decrease the time to market, and reduce the risks of project failure. Technical assessments can suggest appropriate development platforms and architectures, highlight potential problems, correct oversights and validate costs and schedules, which are too often underestimated.

The Solution

Scio offers SaaS Technical Assessments for on-demand and SaaS applications to perform an in-depth study of your application and its supporting infrastructure by our senior development team. The comprehensive assessment will cover all aspects that will affect the performance, scalability, manageability and security of the application, including any of the following areas:

  • Application Architecture
  • Application Security
  • Tenancy Model
  • Provisioning Model
  • Integration Capabilities
  • Database Design
  • Infrastructure Architecture
  • Usability and Accessibility
  • Contingency Processes
  • Development Practices
SaaS Technical Assesments

Our Approach

  • Scio’s senior SaaS/Web technology consultants work together with the client team to study the application and its environment. Our team will leverage automated assessments tools wherever possible and combine it with an in-depth analysis of the design and/or existing code.
  • Generally, the process starts with a conference call to get an overview of the application context followed by a two-day on-site visit where our consultants meet with key client personnel and consider the application in detail.
  • After the visit, a series of web conference calls help to clarify questions and make sure there is a clear and common understanding of all aspects of the application.
  • The final deliverable is a presentation and technical roadmap with a report of the findings and recommendations to address potential issues.

 Key Value-Added Elements

  • Scio’s strong experience in building, maintaining and designing SaaS and Web applications

    Open Source evolving into SaaS?
I've talked before about the close affinity between open source and SaaS, including that SaaS is built using open source, but it's only been this week that it the full import of open source-begets-SaaS came home to me....
